Creative Space: Running Stitches

While on a little mini break in the mountains during the school holidays, I found myself with a lot of time to sit and hand quilt my latest patchwork efforts (started over here).
I am now a convert to hand quilting I believe.  It is wonderfully meditative, portable and best of all I love the way the quilt feels at the end of the process - still wonderfully soft and wrap-able.

This one is now ready for binding, and already I am piling up fabric (vintage stash, I am determined to cut into it!) all around me and my head is swimming with ideas for the next.

Of course the Hexies are still doing their slow burn, kind of a background project, if you know what I mean.

Have you ever checked out this book?  I found it in the library recently and oh my goodness, I am in love with the simple quilt designs, Jane has a wonderful way with textiles!

  1. Gorgeous colour selection. I'm on a real aqua green/blue and white theme this week, so am loving that little birdie print in the quilt!

  10. Wow that's one beautiful quilt. I love the hand quilting very much. Maybe I should do some of that instead of the machine type. It must take a very long time though. Hurry up with that binding, we are itching to see the finished result!

  19. How lovely! Your stitching looks so good and the color way is gorgeous. I'm working on a little improvisational piecing project now that I'm considering quilting by hand, I need the practice!
