tips and tricks #1

I am thinking of doing a little regular post
with my favourite, brief tips and tricks for living
creatively, sustainably, frugally and ethically
Like the little tips from readers you see in magazines...

Tip #1 - instead of tossing your old bread, before it goes mouldy, process it up to breadcrumbs and pop in the freezer.  Use it up regularly, otherwise you will have a freezer full of little bags of breadcrumbs...

My favourite recipes using fresh breadcrumbs:
and the following recipe from the delicious "Paris Cookbook"

  2. Good idea to post your tips. This is a good one. I froze some bread that was going dry once without crumbing it first and left it so long it went mouldy in the freezer!

  3. Yum! Love the idea. We don't have a food processor so I don't get around to crumbing old bread. Instead I put a chunk of it in the freezer and then use the grater on it when it's frozen. A bit more time consuming but not too bad if you only need a bit. We love using breadcrumbs as pangrattato (spelling?!). The poor man's parmesan :)
