I am thinking of doing a little regular post
with my favourite, brief tips and tricks for living
creatively, sustainably, frugally and ethically
Like the little tips from readers you see in magazines...
Tip #1 - instead of tossing your old bread, before it goes mouldy, process it up to breadcrumbs and pop in the freezer. Use it up regularly, otherwise you will have a freezer full of little bags of breadcrumbs...
My favourite recipes using fresh breadcrumbs:
and the following recipe from the delicious "Paris Cookbook"

Love the tips and tricks idea. Can't wait to see more! :)
ReplyDeleteGood idea to post your tips. This is a good one. I froze some bread that was going dry once without crumbing it first and left it so long it went mouldy in the freezer!
ReplyDeleteYum! Love the idea. We don't have a food processor so I don't get around to crumbing old bread. Instead I put a chunk of it in the freezer and then use the grater on it when it's frozen. A bit more time consuming but not too bad if you only need a bit. We love using breadcrumbs as pangrattato (spelling?!). The poor man's parmesan :)
