What I have been up to

Well, obviously I have not been blogging! But I have been doing a lot of blog reading and following - I love Google Reader - and trying to work out if I want to blog and what I really want to blog about.

I have also been busy crafting. I am most proud that I completed Bella's quilt. So here it is, as photographed at But Har Gra:

Lachie had to get a bit of a look in:

The fabric is from the range "Oh Cherry Oh" by Me and My Sister. The quilt is machine and hand quilted. I really enjoyed the hand quilting.

I have been baking bread, after purchasing this great book about bread baking Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: The Discovery That Revolutionizes Home Baking
I love, love, love this book! It really takes so little time, and the delicious aroma of fresh bread fills our house daily, definitely worth a look.

Here is one of the better loaves:

Today was our local school fete, so I baked this lovely Apple Tea Cake from Modern Classics: Book 2 for the cake stall. Hubby wanted to know if we could buy it back, but is was scoffed up pretty quick at the stall!

I am currently working on compiling a set of links to my favorite projects and inspirations - watch this space!

  2. Oh, that's stunning. I love it. Simple and fresh. What parts did you hand-quilt?
The bread thing looks scary to me but I think I should check it out. 5 mins a day did you say?
Happy figuring out whether you want to blog, and what about!! I had heaps of doubts for the first month or two, but now I'm entrenched.
Oh and I've only just switched to google reader this morning :-) Finally. How good is it?!

  3. love that cake and quilt!! I love cherries and have some very sweet cherry fabrics coming to my store next month...so summery!!!

now on to the knitted tee, you can do the top part in 3.75mm where the pattern says to use a size 4 then do your cast off and the main body in a 4.00mm where it says change to bigger needle to knit tunic after your 6 rounds after the sleeves. mine is turning out much more like a tunic now that I've changed to the 4.00 for the body!! its such a great pattern for beginners I wish I'd had it when I started knitting!

    great blog

  4. Gorgeous quilt.
I love the fabrics you chose.
I'm going to have a go at making my own laundry powder this week. It does make alot of sense, especially when it is so simple.
    Thank you for sweet comment.

  5. Did you REALLY say FIVE minutes a day? See you had my attention anyway because I really want to make bread more (I have a theory it's great therapy).

Lovely quilt. But stop wafting it in front of my nose - I have a certain granny square thing underway and yours is making me come over all distracted-like!
