Tea with the Ladies

Have you read Pippy Longstockings?  The Little Miss and I are reading this together.  I bought her Lauren Child's beautifully illustrated Pippy a few years ago.  My favourite chapter is when Pippy gets invited to tea with the ladies next door, and she manages to eat a whole cake and entertain the ladies with her shockingly tall story of the ankle biting maid her grandmother once had...

Any how, I had some ladies over for tea recently, sans Pippy, though I think it would have been a blast had she been there.  We had a selection of teas, fresh brewed coffee and cake.  I made Red Velvet Cup Cakes, now made famous by the Magnolia Bakery in New York.  I have never been to New York, but if I went, I think the Magnolia Bakery would be on my To Visit list.

  1. Ahh, a good tea party. I'd love to have one - must think of whom out of my local friends aren't at work!
I think if the day is nice enough, outside would be lovely! That is a very nice box you have your tea in! Where did you find that?

  3. Loving your tea chest! My daughter hasn't read Pippy Longstockings yet..might see if I can get it at the library today. I've just bookmarked that recipe..sounds quite intriguing.

  5. That teaparty could be straight out of Dianas's house from Anne of Green Gables.
The only thing that would make that picture more beautiful would be some duck egg blue chairs in the background.
